Voted Nashville's MUSICIANS OF THE YEAR by RAW: Natural Born Artists, Black Market Research is an Indie/Alt band headquartered in Nashville, TN.

Formed in 2009 as the brainchild of front-man Nick Britt  and drummer Troy Woodward. BMR released their first EP "Insult to Injury" in January 2011 which found it's way onto local radio stations and helped create a loyal following in Tennessee. The song "Insult to Injury" caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer Adrian David Payne, who gave the band their first music video.

In 2012, the band released their sophomore project "Shapeshifter's Masquerade," which was nominated by Nashville Industry Music Awards for Album of the Year. BMR was also nominated for Best Live Rock Performers, Best Pop Rock Band and Artist of the Year.

BMR spent 2013-2014 touring nationally to establish a rapport in a variety of small to mid sized venues throughout the Southwest and Southeast.

In 2015, BMR successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign and began production of their third studio effort called 'Nobody Fits', produced by Grammy Award winner, Chad Brown. The band was joined by heavy hitters such as guitarist Doug Lancio (John Hyatt, Hootie and the Blowfish, Patty Griffin), guitarist Slim Gambill (Lady Antebellum), keyboardist Arlan Oscar, and percussionist Matthew Burgess. A song called 'PTSD' has already been favored by the program director at Nashville's most popular rock station and was featured daily the week of January 4., 2016. The record has also gone on to win "Album of the Year" by the Nashville Industry Music Awards.
